The projects below have been specially curated for LBS for London. For each project, you have the option to sign up as a Captain or a Volunteer (simply select the appropriate option on the registration page). As a Captain, you will have additional responsibilities the week leading up to and the day of the project, including coordination with the charity lead and assigning on-site responsibilities to Volunteers.

The charity addresses problems facing predominantly African women in isolated communities through outreach services. Volunteers will help the women with social media activities including setting up a profile, maintaining it and providing 1-1 support

John Evelyn Community Garden was developed through local residents on the Pepys estate, working together to grow fresh food. Volunteers will help revive the garden and prepare the ground for a new bog area alongside the pond.

Byte Night is Action for Children's biggest fundraiser. 100s of people give up their beds for one night to help change lives of vulnerable people. Volunteering roles include registering sleepers, handing out sleeping bags, serving food, etc.

Charlie Chaplin Adventure Playground provides an exciting and safe play service for children with and without disabilities. It supports children aged 5 - 16, and is an independently managed community resource. The playground needs continued garden and equipment maintenance to keep it safe for the children.

L'Arche London Garden is a therapeutic garden project for adults with learning disabilities. Their focus is to support the development of independence, and the ability to work as a team. They grow fruit, vegetables and ornamental plants. As a volunteer, you will be helping with some much needed focus on the garden!

Location: West Norwood | Volunteers Required: 6

 

The Centre provides activities outside of school hours for young people aged 13-19 living in North Westminster. Volunteers will decorate the downstairs and upstairs foyer, spruce up the Dance Studio and varnish the wood work.

Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses is a small charity specializing in horticulture and education. The greenhouses serve as a local resource to improve the lives the local community. Volunteers will provide some much-needed support with a garden project.

North London Cares is a community network matching young professionals to creative projects to support older neighbours in need of a little extra time, help or company! Volunteers should arrive at 11.45 am for tea and cake with the community. You will have the chance to accompany the community to an hour-long concert of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Salisbury Row is a neighborhood in Southwark. Our vision is to create a green environment focused on improving the London community for its residents. As a volunteer, you will provide some much needed support with trimming and pruning shrubs in readiness for winter.

The Fourth Feathers Youth & Community Center offers a wealth of opportunities for young people living in Marylebone and surrounding areas. Help brighten the place up by painting a room and an outside wall in need of TLC.

An incubator for disadvantaged start-up entrepreneurs currently living in temporary housing needs your help! Volunteers will paint and stencil to add some much needed warmth to the space to make it more welcoming.

Nursery Row Park is your chance to restore this Community Orchard to its former glory! The orchard was originally started about 20 years ago, but is fairly overgrown due to nearby construction. Volunteers will help clear out, prune and possibly mulch areas of the orchard.

Support SilverSunday hosted by the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lords. Volunteers will act as hosts and ensure visitors have an enjoyable day with the chance to sit, chat and feel welcome at the Home of Cricket. Your role will be to engage people in conversation, especially those attending alone, meet people on arrival and support tour parties on their way around the ground.

Roll up your sleeves and get involved with some conservation work to keep London's green spaces sustainable habitats for a variety of species to enjoy the outdoors! Volunteers will work with London's Wildlife Trust's conservation areas to maintain the trails, clear bramble, cut grass and fell trees.
